New Release: Jennifer Knapp - Letting Go
It's out!!! Grab it! This is her first album in 9 years, so support her by getting this. She is now with an Independent label, Graylin Records. Jennifer has been on hiatus from her music career and is now back with this LP.
MONO had a one on one with Jennifer and we asked her a few questions here and there about her time away from the music world. I could see in her eyes that she really needed that time for herself. Granted it was a quite a while, but the time away seemed like it got her some rest and also balanced out the craziness that surrounds her talent. And that she definitely is, extremely gifted with a voice and musicality.
Like always MONO wanted to dive deep into her ipod. What is she listening to?
1. Natalie Merchant - Leave Your Sleep
Jennifer was singing praise about this one. Her best since Tigerlily.

2. Sandra McCracken - In Feast or Fallow
I had to run and get this when Jennifer was talking about this. Yeah, it's that good.

3. Ray La Montagne - Gossip in the Grain
This is one of those albums that will go down into history and always sound current yet timeless.

4. Lucinda Williams - Little Honey
A duet with Elvis Costello is definitely worth many spins off this album. Lucinda even covers some AC/DC. Booyah.

5. Elvis Costello - The Delivery Man
With the Impostors on this album. He can do no wrong.

Tokyo Chronicles Part 1: Flight of the Kondensor
Departing SFO. Going to take this new Kondensor for a test run across the world to Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong. We'll be meeting up with some key players that we've been wanting to connect with, and saying hi to our distributors who have been doing an amazing job bringing MONO gear to all parts East.

The Golden Gate at 50mph.

The Kondensor in action at SFO.

3 amazing mixes from Pat custom tailored for this trip. Too bad I can't plug into the airplane PA - this mix is amazing.

Welcome to Tokyo!

First meeting is with Yoshi Tsushima, CEO of Origami Productions. Origami is behind some amazing collaborative music coming out of Tokyo, include the laidbook series. And we're working on a collaboration of our own. More on that later.

Also with Yoshi was multi-instrumentalist and producer Shingo Suzuki. Shingo got in touch with us last year and we've been wanting to connect ever since. Stoked to now have a chance for a quick photo shoot for the MONOplayer gallery, and a conversation about new music.

Back in September Pat posted a MONOLOG entry introducing Shingo to our readers. You can read that post here.

Ok, jetlag setting in hard. But first, an amazing glass of beer from this underground German spot called Frigo. Found this place by accident. Next time I will find it on purpose.

Tokyo is officially amazing.

Yoshi hooked me up with the complete laidbook collection to-date. You know who would be awesome on a laidbook album? Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
